Beyond its type, a discount carries the conditions that decide when and for whom it applies. Every condition is checked by the engine at pricing time — a discount that misses one simply doesn't apply (or, if it was asked for, says why).
The schedule#
- Start date & time is required; end is optional — no end means the discount runs until you switch it off. A discount is still live at its end instant.
- Times are evaluated in the store's own timezone, so "ends at midnight" means midnight where the sale happens.
Happy hour#
Any discount can be limited to chosen weekdays and a daily time window — the builder's "Limit discount to specific hours (Happy Hour)" toggle. An overnight window is legal: 22:00 – 02:00 means ten in the evening until two the next morning, exactly as a bar would mean it.
Minimum basket and the cap#
- Minimum spend — the cart floor the discount needs, checked against the eligible goods: by default, items you've excluded from the discount don't count toward its minimum either (there is a switch to count them anyway).
- Maximum discount amount — the ceiling on what a percentage discount can take off one order. As the builder's tooltip puts it: "A 50% discount capped at 25 never takes off more than 25."
Where and for whom#
- Scope — Global (All Stores), or mapped to specific stores. A discount scoped to stores applies nowhere else.
- Product targeting — specific products or categories (for product-class discounts), and an exclusion list to carve items out.
- Customer eligibility — everyone, named customers, or customer groups. Named customers and groups are alternatives: qualifying through either is enough.
