Labels & printing
Print shelf labels and product tags as QR codes or barcodes, on a receipt roll or on sheets.
The label page prints scannable tags for a product's stock, such as shelf labels, price tags and stickers for each unit. It prints through your browser's print dialog.
Who can do this: anyone who can view inventory.
Before you start#
- For a Linear barcode, the product needs a numeric barcode. You can add one on the product form. Otherwise, print a QR code.
- Select the store in the top bar. Prices and batches come from that store.
Print labels#
- Go to Inventory > Inventory management.
- On the product's row, open the menu and select Print labels.
- For a product with variants, choose the variant.
- Choose the Tag output format: Vector QR code or Linear barcode.
- Under Choose metadata to show, tick what each label shows.
- Choose the paper and the label size. Check the Label preview.
- Select Print, then print from the browser's dialog.
Choose the format#
- Vector QR code: a scannable square code. It holds the product's barcode, or its SKU when there is no barcode. It works for every product with a barcode or SKU.
- Linear barcode: a classic EAN-13 barcode. An EAN-13 is 13 digits, so a product without a numeric barcode cannot use it. The page says: "Linear barcodes need a barcode on the product. Use the QR code instead."
What the label shows#
You can show the product name, SKU, the code, a price, the store or business name, expiry and manufacture dates, and the batch number. For the price, the Label pricing source is Base (the catalogue price), In-Store (this store's price), or Custom (a price you type).
How many labels print depends on the product's tracking:
- A standard product prints the number of copies you ask for.
- A batch-tracked product prints labels for one batch you choose, so the expiry date on the sticker is that batch's date.
- A serialized product prints one label for each available unit, each with its own serial number.
Paper and size#
The paper choices are a POS / continuous roll (80 mm, one label per cut) and A4, A3 and Letter sheets. The label size can be Dynamic (fitted to the page for you), Small, Medium, Large or Custom. The preview updates as you change these, and warns you when a size does not fit the paper.
